Andy Burnham tells us that there are two parts to Stanton Drew, the Great Circle at 113m in diameter and the North-East Circle at 30m in diameter. There are also two blocks which may have been part of an avenue similar to that at Avebury. There is a third circle of stones on nearby private land.
English Heritage has the survey report of this monument at

| Action taken: | Removed everything I could; all loose objects and most wedged one CAREFULLY with surgical tweezers. Left the acorns as something was already eating them, also left some of the charcoal bits that were degrading nicely. Came away with a bag-full. Intend to work a rebound from the spell debris as a warning. |
| Comments: | Just speechless. Disappointed with people. |

| Comments: | The site felt as if it were being subsumed back into the Land more strongly than before. The SW circle very sleepy but the most intact part of site. A strong impression, for the first time, that the surrounding hillside forms a bank-and-ditch to this place in the same way as the artificial one at Avebury (and in a greater way to the artificial one that was here too). This places very, very Land-integral. Met NC Guardian, who was just scoping me out. |

| Spoke to Land Spirits: | Yes |
| And they said: | "Hmph? Oh, people." |
| Chipped bits: | Yes |
| Also found: | Just molehills, sheep and thistles. |
| Action taken: | As I believe the chips were old, I didn't report them. Nothing to take away. |
| Comments: | A distinct feeling that the stones were trying to magnetise my bones...this was strongest in the centre of the NE circle, where both myself and my wife felt (independently) quite weak-kneed. My wife also reported distinct faery feelings at the surrounding trees. The site felt awesome but a bit curmudgeonly. |

| Spoke to Land Spirits: | Yes |
| And they said: | Nothing, just looked and let us know they were watching. |
| Candlewax: | Yes - on one of the main stones in the circle. Lichens were covered. |
| Damaged Lichen: | Yes |
| Chipped bits: | Yes - the stones seem to be volcanic in origin and have a lot of quartz crystal through them. It seemed that some of these pieces had been chipped off. |
| Objects: | Yes - silver-coloured coins |
| Disturbed soil: | Yes |
| Action taken: | Left candlewax as it would not have been possible to remove it without damage. |
