This site is only a few miles from a Late Neolithic-Early Bronze Age picrite stone axe factory, at Cwm-Mawr, and is not far from the Hoarstones stone circle. The name may derive from the Old English word for "big". The stones are made of dolerite, and come from nearby, although many of them are missing and some have fallen. The standing survivors range from 10" to 6'3" in height, and stand in an ellipse. The NW oriented longitudinal axis of the ellipse is 89', the short axis is 82'.

| Comments: | This lovely site has suffered vandalism in the past, a stone (now re-erected) was toppled in 1994. Despite the no camping & lighting fires signs it still seems a popular spot for camping/ritual use |
