The stone circles of Machrie Moor on the Isle of Arran off the Southwest coast of Scotland are now in varying stages of disrepair, although the positioning of different kinds of circles near to one another does suggest that it was a large site of considerable importance. A tiny, four stone ring made entirely of quartz is amongst circles that are mainly made of boulders. There are also three sandstone pillars around 6m high. It is possible to see all of the stone circles from the ruined kist burial in the middle of Fingal's Cauldron Seat which is on the main path to the South.
