I've lost my archives. Blogger was hacked yesterday and I can't get it to republish my archives, which are still there in the blogger files, but my index page isn't being generated. I'm sure they'll be back soon.

This is Thought (or Mindfulness, apparently), who lives at the National Birds of Prey Centre. Image copyright (c) Samantha Fleming, 2000 Beautiful ride in this morning. I got up late-ish, so was in a bit of a hurry, but that didn’t stop me from checking the barometer Andy got me for Christmas (well, Yule, really, but he was away at Solstice). Falling, certainly, and it’s even calibrated now. It was raining, but the sun was out, and as I rode past the Powderham estate, the most amazing rainbow appeared in the sky. It was one of those that is completely uninterrupted except where it hits the ground, and which has already gone beyond a semi-circle by quite some way. The colours were extraordinarily intense, and the sea seemed to glow from beneath where the Eastern end hit the water. It was almost as if there were some fabulous Deity below the surface who had taken a lungful of sunlight and was blowing it out with enormous strength, splitting the rays through the surface of the sea.

The sun was behind me and in front of me the sky was black with storm clouds. It was raining, and the rain was freezing cold, almost literally from the slushy feel of it, but I felt really very warm. Then I heard a throaty croak and when I looked up there was a raven flying just over my head. It was definitely a raven - I don’t mistake anything for a raven any more. The wedge tail was incredibly distinct and there is no confusing that voice for anything else. What an amazingly uplifting start to the day, even with stiff legs and cold knees and knowing that there was going to be hardly anyone else at work.

Then, today I found this site - Wodensharrow, which is actually pretty good, despite the ubiquitous "I am pagan, I must be artistic and represent my path accordingly" images. It is certainly thorough, and seems to have a really good selection of original source texts contained therein. Well worth at least a critical look if you have the slightest interest in things Norse and Heathen.

And it’s starting to look like someone has been playing tricks with me again (<sarcasm>I wonder who??</sarcasm>), but such discussions are not for here, and besides, I need to do some more reading.
