Bollocks. That last post screwed up my archives. Again.

23:26    archived

I have meetings the way Frood has stock counts.

But I'm loving it down here. Tonight we have the most amazing fog, which takes the edge off (but only ever so slightly) the idea that sometime this afternoon while I was sitting in here, a child was killed and several other people severely injured in a car accident about quarter of a mile down the road. I heard the police, I heard the fire engines, the ambulances. I even heard the emergency helicopter. Years of living in Oxford has meant I give such sounds hardly a second thought. I didn't even think about it all that much until Frood called to say he was delayed because the road into Starcross was compeltely closed and he was having trouble getting home.

They showed it on the news this evening. It looked bad. But at no point did I feel the urge to go out and be a rubber-necker. Serious business. I wonder what happened. It's not a difficult stretch of road, down by the golf course.

In some ways it's amazing that most of the time I feel safer on my bike. But then I felt that way about my motorbike as well.

I'm starting to enjoy hills. I must be mad.
