Wow. Been a while since I wrote anything in here. I've almost forgotten how to type.

That's a lie, actually. I do a lot of typing in my new job.

New job. I have a job. I still can't quite believe it, even though there are seagulls screeching outside my window and every so often a train goes past. I can't quite believe that I'm finally working for the EA (they're still in the process of renovating that website, incidentally).

I cycle to work. It's about 10 miles, and I'm increasing in fitness to the point where I can actually enjoy the ride now. It's a nice ride. Some people seem to think you are unfortunate if you cycle to work, as if not running a car means that there must be something wrong with you. I have a car. I choose not to use it for work. I choose to cycle. Hardly surprising, given that one option means getting frustrated in jams and arriving at work already wound up, and the other means riding along seeing deer, foxes, crows, rooks, magpies, rabbits, enjoying the sun and flooding my body with endorphins. Riding to work means I have a chance to think, to ponder, to enjoy myself for the half hour or so it takes to get there. It's even enjoyable when the weather isn't so good, in its own way. You can't think in the car, when you're driving. Not like you can on a bicycle.

I'm now living in Starcross, which is a small village on the Exe estuary, South of Exeter. It is such a huge improvement over Oxford. Frood moves down tomorrow. It has been a month and a half since I came down, and I can't wait for him to get here. No more long, tiring drives back to Oxford at weekends. Hopefully Andy will be moving down soon, too. He has put into motion the necessary for moving into a flat about 30 feet away, which will be ever so cool. Once Frood gets here I won't be doing everything myself any more and I may have more time to get back to getting involved with the things I used to be involved in.

Cruithni has certainly been taking off while I've been out of the picture. I feel a bit guilty that Andy has been putting so much work into it and I've been unable to help and do the things I should be doing to get it running smoothly and equipped with the resources that we plan for it. Having said that, there are certainly things that I haven't missed - email being one of them, strangely. I missed the people, but being unable to get to my email hasn't bothered me all that much. Do need to get some stuff sorted out, though. Bling's sub to RP being one priority right now.

The hardest thing so far has been changing my body clock to be ready to get up at 06:30. That's a big change from my previous time of around 10. I'm quite tired, although a lot of this is just from getting used to the new schedule and learning a new job that has a lot of tight timescales and procedures that have to be followed to the letter. Even so, I'm feeling a lot better than I have in a long time, despite not having found a gym yet.

I really need to get a washing machine. I really, really do. 20 miles a day produces a lot of smelly lycra.
