You'd think I'd have got around to updating this before now, wouldn't you? Sorry about that. I've been getting distracted.
The weekend was good fun. It's always a blissful relief to get away from Oxford, and the cottage we rented this year was not only bigger than last year's, despite not sleeping so many, but it wasn't quite the hotbed of weirdness that last year's was. It was further out on the edge of the village, which meant a good long walk back up a very steep hill when we went to the Witchcraft Museum, but that in itself was no bad thing as we couldn't go walking in the countryside. I greatly enjoyed Steve Wilson's talk on Chaos Magick, and would highly recommend him as a speaker. The location was the hotel used for the outdoors shots in Roald Dahl's The Witches. The weather was misty and damp and windy, but the conference had much more space and was much more enjoyable than last year. Bobcat was judging the pagan barbie competition, but the less said about that the better, I reckon.
It was great to have the chance to spend the time with other people who live with a world of weird, again, not to have to keep certain things to yourself. Gave us a chance to get some talking done, some of us, although catering for everyone's dietary restrictions was a giggle. It was saddening and worrying to see the foot and mouth restrictions and precautions everywhere, particularly when we were told by a certain unnamed pagan that the paths weren't closed when they were. The fallacy of the minority once again. I got to catch up with Pete Pracownik, though, and it's always nice to catch up with old friends.
I did hear a very interesting thing about Austin Osman Spare and the law of Threefold Return, which I shall treasure for some time.
Then it's back to the grind, and rediscovering how bad Oxford is for my health, and piling through the umpteen emails from stupid people. The pain has come back with a vengeance - I was sick this morning, I'm very shaky and I've started to smell bad again. Here was me about to mark up a page on how I deal with FMS. Seems a bit silly now as I'm not dealing with it very well right now.
I might write up the dream I had last night later on. It was quite interesting.
