The restaurant's name is Branca, the luverly Frood informs me, and my printer arrived. Sans cable. Damn. Trip to the shop tomorrow then. Need to get some beeswax and linseed oil anyway.

Tired. Period started yesterday and I'm bleeding like the proverbial stuck pig. Some rather unpleasant dreams last night, which I don't feel like recounting here. Yesterday wasn't so bad, though. Got up very late, as I've been feeling pretty crappy in the mornings, and was then reminded by Frood that we had a birthday lunch to go to and were supposed to be meeting in The Bear at noon. In approximately 10 minutes, as it so happened.

After a slight panic, Frood phoned to say we'd be delayed and would meet everyone at the restaurant, and I scrubbed up a bit, just so as not to be rude. It was a new place on Walton Street, near The Phoenix Picture House. Can't remember the name. Brac-something or the other. Italian, big, open, airy. Very good food. Beautiful bathroom furnishings (I notice things like that). Run by the Duke of Cambridge people, I believe. It was quite a pleasant meal, although I'm not good at eating at that time of the day, really. Nice to see Gerv and Bobby again.

Supposed to be in the gym today because I missed yesterday (as a result of attending Jodie's birthday lunch). Nearly came off my bike on the way home from dropping something off at Touchwoods, though. I'm probably anaemic at the moment. Feel rather faint. It might be better to leave it a day or so. Thinking about it, that's also a good reason not to get my tattoo done tomorrow as well. It will have to wait until after my dental appointment then.

I don't suppose anyone knows a good brand of instant drinking chocolate? I can't find an organic instant anywhere, although I found some organic instant malted stuff. Guess I'll have to take a trip to Uhuru and see if I can find some organic milk powder to make my own. At this time of year I prefer chocolate to tea if I'm out walking, and taking the mini trangia so it's hot rather than tepid from a flask is also a good idea. There isn't that much extra weight.

Ordered a printer online just before New Year. Very good deal. Got the receipt and the invoice through today but the printer has not arrived and the order tracking on the website says that they are awaiting authorisation. Grrr. I need the damn thing. Frood and I have both started doing a spot of wood carving too. It's very soothing, even when all you are doing is taking the bark and outer wood off of a piece of stick you have found lying around.

Ah well. Better get on with some work, I suppose.

Had strange dreams last night. I went to get my tattoo done, and it was quite late at night for some reason. Bob's studio had moved upstairs from Chris', and the decor of the outside of the front of the shop was maroon rather than purple as it is now. The paintwork looked shabbier. It was just prior to a big refit, as they were now in competition with another shop that had opened just down the road, on the opposite side, which was rather like Tiger Lily but did tattoos as well as piercings and all the rest.

I was quite drunk. I wasn't falling over or anything. I was at that stage where you know you are drunk, but still feel quite lucid. I can't remember who else was there, but I was chattering away quite happily while Bob did his thing. It didn't seem to hurt at all, which surprised me, and it was over before I realised it. He put a dressing on it, and I handed over the money and told him he could keep the book I lent him (I've been considering doing this for a while now). Then I went home.

Actually, I think Andy must have been there because I remember asking him to take a picture of the tattoo after I got back. Flo was at home too, had come round to visit and I wanted to show her. Carefully, they took the dressing off, but then they just stopped and stared.

There wasn't anything there. Nothing had been done. There was just a shiny smear where the vaseline had been put.

So I went back to see Bob, and he grinned and told me he hadn't done it because both of us had been pretty smashed and he didn't want to do a bad job. Which seemed fair enough.

Later on I asked Flo if she wanted to come on a trip with me. She asked where, and I told her sailing, and she said no because she was too scared these days. It was all really odd.

Ah. Andy has left the vicarious conversation game.

I can't be bothered right now, too tired, but I guess I'll have to remove the links tomorrow.

The cold snap has broken, so it seems. Let's hope the freezer starts working again.
