Sam was born and is now living — after an extended period in various parts of England — in Fife, Scotland. At the moment she is an environmental scientist working in regulatory enforcement for the public sector, although she has, in her time, been such diverse things as archaeologist, warden for a prehistoric stone circle in Oxfordshire, editorial assistant for a publishing company, patent abstractor, administrator for the Territorial Army, and freelance web designer.
Outside the day job Sam is a compulsive writer and occasional illustrator who has contributed to White Dragon Magazine, Bike Reader, The Right Times and 3rd Stone. She has a particular talent for rendering complex ideas understandable. Evidence of this compulsion, both fiction and non-fiction, can be found elsewhere on this website and at her other ongoing project, Quantum Coyote.
Sam is also passionately involved in campaigning on behalf of the Cycle Touring Club, protecting the right of cyclists to use the road. She has provided adult and child training in vehicular cycling, teaching novice and experienced cyclists how to handle motor traffic confidently and safely.
